Robert was a giving, loving and dedicated spouse, father, uncle, and grandfather. He thrived on helping others, always assisting his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling to his family’s and friends’ homes to assist them with renovations and repairs.

Robert was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, the son of Edmund and Lillian Raphael. He is a graduate of Rice High School. Robert started his career, after his service with the U.S. Army, as a banker, progressing from teller to bank auditor. He began, with the assistance of his father, a garage door business that flourished for over forty years.

After retiring from banking, Robert started a second career as a bus driver/janitor, first for the Lakeland School District and then for BOCES. While at Lakeland School District, he served for several years as the President of the local CSEA Union.

After fully retiring, Robert joined the American Legion, Post #1009 (Yorktown Hgts.), and became actively involved in Post activities. He enjoyed his several-year stint as point person for Post Hall Rentals.

Robert will be sorely missed by his grieving family and friends.
