Margaret “Peggy” Lewis, of Jefferson Valley, NY, passed away on Oct. 17, 2026 at the age of 87. Peggy was born in 1939, in Yonkers NY, to Elizabeth and Joseph Sullivan. She was a loving sister to Joseph, Thomas, Elizabeth “Betty,” and John. She was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Yonkers, which she attended from kindergarten to high school.

Peggy’s career began by helping her father’s business, Sullivan Sound Services, alongside her sister Betty and members of the Sullivan family. The business sent projectionists to campgrounds throughout the Catskills to show Disney and other films. Peggy worked at Curry Chevrolet in Yorktown before spending more than 20 years at Westchester County Medical Center. Peggy also did book keeping for the family business, Brad Lewis Landscaping. She had a strong work ethic, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her.

Throughout her life, it was important to her to remain active in her community. Peggy was a dedicated member of the Lake Mohegan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and served as the Yorktown Republican District Leader. One of Peggy’s most special contributions was serving as a foster parent to 23 babies while they awaited adoption. She provided them with care, comfort, and love during the earliest stages of their lives.

Peggy was a devoted Catholic and a faithful parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, which held a special place in her heart. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and had her favorite seat in the church, always sitting to the right of the altar. Peggy loved lighting candles at Seton for her loved ones, the people she missed, and anyone that needed prayer in a time of need. Her faith was an important part of her life and brought her comfort throughout the years.

Above all, Peggy cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother who loved caring for her grandchildren and treasured the time they spent together. Her family was a source of great pride and happiness throughout her life, as well as her beloved cat, “Kit-Kat.”

When Peggy went out “gallivanting” that meant she was running errands and shopping at DeCicco’s Market, where she was a familiar face and everyone knew her by name. She loved the friendly connections she made there and was always greeted like an old friend.

Peggy will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her service to her community, and the kindness she shared with so many people throughout her life. Although life dealt her many obstacles, she was a strong woman and remained a steady source of comfort, as well as a beacon of support for her family. She listened without judgment and could always be counted on to provide wise, and comforting advice to those who needed it most.

She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Sullivan; her siblings, Joseph, Thomas, Betty and John; her best friend who became family Joan, and Joan’s children John and Debbie. Her beloved husband, Myron Bradley Lewis, and her sons Bradley Jr, and Timothy, and her dear grandson Joseph.

She is survived by her son, Sean Lewis (Donna), her daughters-in-law Diane and Liz; nephews Chris Hanrahan and David Foley, her beloved grandchildren, Karissa Potenza (Nick), Amanda Lewis, Courtney Lewis, and Jennifer Fregonese (Steven); her cherished great-grandchildren, Kaylah, Sophia, Lucas, Serena, Margot, Aaron, and Dakota. Her beloved extended family, Regina, Tommy, Lorraine and many dear friends and neighbors who will miss her deeply.
