The family of Jean M. Kennedy of North Salem, NY, sadly announces her passing on March 18, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born in the Bronx, NY to Edward and Gertrude Griffin. She graduated from Victory Business School in Mount Vernon, NY.
She dedicated four decades of her life to her career in Human Resources at Putnam Hospital and retired thirteen years ago after her many years of service.
Jean was everything a family could hope for in the form of a matriarch. She was a sweet, loving mother, hardworking, very much family-oriented, and the glue that kept the family together especially after her beloved husband’s passing in 1980. Whether it was family gatherings or time with her grandchildren whom she adored, Jean will be deeply missed and loved for eternity.
She was a resident of North Salem since the 1970s and a member of the Parish of St. Joseph’s, Somers, NY.
She is survived by her children Ed (Tina), Laurie (James), Robert, and James (Chona). She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Kennedy, her son Tom Kennedy, her parents Edward and Gertrude, her sister Eileen Ryan and her brother Edward Griffin.
Jean and her husband’s legacy will live on via her eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday March 24, 2025 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY 10509 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
