Antonio DiPietro of Newtown, CT, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 91.
Antonio was born on September 27, 1933, in Guardia Lombardi, Avellino (region of Campania), Italy, son of the late Gaetano and Pasqualina (Magnotta) DiPietro. Antonio served two years in the Italian Army, and at the age of 16 went to Switzerland to learn his trade as a mason. On March 9, 1958, Antonio married Isabella Rossi in Guardia Lombardi. In 1970 the family immigrated from Italy to the United States and settled in New Rochelle, NY before purchasing a house in Mt. Vernon, NY in 1975. Antonio retired from being a self-employed mason in 1995, and they moved to Newtown, CT in 2004. Antonio was a member of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge in Danbury, CT, and he loved gardening, playing Bocce, and helping his children with special projects around their homes.
Antonio is survived by his wife Isabella; sons Guy DiPietro and his wife Marlisa of Brewster, NY and Joseph DiPietro and his wife Rezi of Newtown, CT; daughter Enza Bonamici and her husband Albert of Newtown, CT; a sister Guiseppina DiSavino of Mt. Vernon, NY; grandchildren Robert, Anthony, Erica, Martina, Diana and Mark; and great grandchildren Nickolai, Tatiana, Isabella, Savannah, Luca, Matteo, and Mila. He was predeceased by his brother Giocondo DiPietro.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, CT at 10 a.m. followed by the entombment in Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY 10509.
