Peter A. Walsh

Peter A. Walsh, 97, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Pete was born in Jamaica, Queens, on May 5, 1928, the son of the late Peter and Mary (Lettis) Walsh. Pete married his loving wife, Mary (Portal), with whom he built a life and raised a family. He always considered thirteen to be his lucky number because he met Mary at a Friday the 13th dance. He was a proud lifelong Yankee Fan and never tired of recounting the story of meeting Babe Ruth at the age of nine while he was in the hospital with a ruptured appendix.

Pete retired after 36 years as a Systems Analyst with Union Carbide Corporation. Following his retirement he worked as a messenger/transporter at Danbury Hospital for 10 years, after which he volunteered at the hospital for an additional 10 years. Pete was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6318. He was a parishioner at St. James the Apostle Church for 57 years, where he was an usher, counted the collections, and ran the parish carnival and bingo games for many years.

He will be loved and forever missed by his children, Daniel Walsh, Jeanne Walsh Conklin (Tom), and Mary Walsh Dick (Brad) with whom he lived, his grandchildren James Walsh Dick, Adam Walsh (Hikari), his two great granddaughters, Lucy and Juno, and his sister-in-law, Doris Portal Conk. Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, and his son, James.

Pete was a man of great faith, saying the rosary and attending Mass daily. The world has lost a great man, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Pete was a man of integrity and unwavering dedication to his family. Our loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left behind. We will love and miss him forever.

Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave, Brewster, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church, Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
