YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. —Lu Remsen, a longtime Yorktown resident, recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Remsen continues to live independently in her home with support from friends and neighbors. She has a son who lives in Washington state, adores Frank Sinatra and enjoys Harveys Bristol Cream.

During the Oct. 14 Town Board work session, Supervisor Ed Lachterman and the board honored Remsen for her centennial birthday, remarkable spirit, and sharp wit. Although she was unable to attend the meeting in person, Lachterman and his wife, Carol, visited her that morning to present the their well wishes in person.

They marked the occasion with family, friends and neighbors, who gathered to celebrate with cake and conversation.

“What a special lady, with great stories, sharp as a tack,” Lachterman said during the work session. “We wish you a very, very happy 100th birthday and look forward to getting together again and chatting.”
