YORKTOWN, N.Y.—A Yorktown man is facing a felony charge after a prior arrest for assault in the third degree.

Yorktown Police arrested 38-year-old Hanee Margiye and charged him with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony.

According to Yorktown PD, Margiye had previously been served with a temporary order of protection, which required him to surrender all firearms in his possession. On Aug. 21, he turned over four firearms to the Yorktown PD. Upon investigation, one of the firearms was identified by the department as an illegal assault rifle.

Margiye surrendered himself at the police station, where he was arrested on Tuesday. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Stolen charge card leads to more charges

A Long Island man already accused of stealing a wallet at Club Fit in Jefferson Valley is in more hot water after an additional felony was added to his charge sheet.

As previously reported, Yorktown Police arrested 36-year-old Mark Ripolone of East Hampton on Oct. 3 and charged him with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Now Ripolone faces another charge from the same incident— second-degree identity theft. All are class E felonies.

Police allege that Ripolone stole the wallet, which held the victim’s debit and credit cards, and later used the stolen debit card at a gas station ATM in Yorktown to withdraw money from the victim’s bank account.

Ripolone was already in the custody of Westchester County Corrections from the Oct. 3 arrest. He was arraigned on the new charge in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday and remanded to Westchester County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.
