CARMEL, N.Y. — When pro wrestling icon Hulk Hogan died this week at age 71, it marked the passing of a star who helped transform sports entertainment from regional events with niche appeal into a multibillion-dollar global attraction. Hogan—whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea—had the charisma to serve as both the face and catalyst of that transition.
Hogan’s career also intersected with that of legendary wrestler, manager, and Mahopac resident “Captain” Lou Albano, whose family continues to play a major role in local life. Captain Lou's grandson Louis John Albano and his dad, former county legislator Carl Albano—both from Albano Agency Insurance & Real Estate—were on hand when Hogan visited and shared the above photo from his March 5 visit to the ShopRite in Carmel, as a tribute to Hogan and to mark his passing.
"Rest in Peace to the legend Hulk Hogan, a great man!" Louis John Albano wrote.
