Voters in New York's 95th Assembly District— which covers portions of Westchester and Putnam counties, including Peekskill, Cortlandt and Ossining—decided who would represent them in Albany in Tuesday's election between incumbent Democratic Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg and Republican challenger Laurie Ryan.
Levenberg received 18,275 votes, or 74.66 percent, compared with 6,179 votes, or 25.24 percent, for Ryan, with 25 write-in votes, or 0.10 percent, according to unofficial election results as of 11:24 a.m. Wednesday. All 906 election districts in Westchester County had only partially reported results. A significant number of emergency paper ballots cast on Election Day remained uncounted, and the results were subject to change as additional ballots were tabulated.
Raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Levenberg holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University. She worked in advertising and television production in New York City before becoming active in community advocacy. She served as chief of staff to former Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, spent nine years on the Ossining school board and served as Ossining town supervisor from 2016 to 2022. She was elected to the state Assembly in 2022.
Levenberg will continue to represent the district in Albany, where state lawmakers consider legislation affecting education, housing, taxes and infrastructure.
