WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. —Mohegan Lake beaches are open.
The Westchester County Health Department cleared the Mohegan Beach Park District in Mohegan Lake to reopen for swimming on Wednesday and said there has been no Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) in the swimming area for at least 24 hours. The beaches were closed earlier this summer.
A water sample collected on July 28 indicates that the bloom has subsided.
Health officials will continue to monitor the bathing area. Reopening samples can only be collected once the water has been clear of HAB for one full day, according to the department.
The nearby beach at Mohegan Colony Association, also on Mohegan Lake, reopened last week. These are the only county-regulated beaches on the lake.
