YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. —Ed Lachterman won reelection as Yorktown town supervisor with 55 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections.

As of 10:48 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, Lachterman, the republican incumbent had 3,750 votes and Democratic challenger Jann Mirchandani had 3,111 votes, according to the unofficial tally of election results. These totals do not reflect early voting numbers.

"It is an honor to be chosen to serve the town of Yorktown for another term," Lachterman told Yorktown News. "I thank all of those who help me on my path to victory."

In April 2024, Lachterman, then acting supervisor, beat Mirchandani in a special election to remain in office following the sudden death of his close friend, former Supervisor Tom Diana, in January 2024. Lachterman was first elected to the town board in 2015. He served as deputy supervisor under Diana in 2023 and was appointed acting supervisor on Jan. 5, 2024, after Diana’s death.

Mirchandani, a Yorktown resident for more than 20 years, owns Westchester Marketing Cafe and spent years in the financial services industry. She also ran for town supervisor two years ago and lost to Diana in the November 2023 election. Yorktown News reached out to Mirchandani for comment and will update this article when she responds.
