Henrietta Kalbfell, lovingly known as Penny, passed away on Aug. 22, 2026, in Peekskill, New York, at the age of 97.
Born on May 3, 1929, in New York City, Penny lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the many people who were fortunate enough to know her. She carried herself with grace, warmth, and quiet strength, and she was admired for her loving nature, her adventurous spirit, and her kind heart. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to the values that shaped her, and she shared those values generously with the people around her.
Penny devoted many years of her working life to Metropolitan Life Insurance the NYC Teachers Retirement System and Sears, where she was respected for her reliability, professionalism, and steady presence. Her work reflected the same care and integrity that she brought to every part of her life. She was the kind of person others could depend on, and she took pride in doing her best in all that she undertook.
Penny especially cherished time spent with family. She found great joy in family gatherings, where her presence brought people together and created lasting memories. She enjoyed travel and cards, and she embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. Whether near home or exploring new places, she appreciated the experiences that allowed her to connect with others and enjoy the world around her. Her adventurous nature gave her life a sense of energy and discovery that those close to her will always remember.
Penny was pre-deceased by her husband Emerson. She is survived by her children, Robert Kalbfell and Daniel Kalbfell; her daughters-in-law, Nanci Kalbfell and Jennifer Kalbfell; and her grandchildren, Kristin Ekberg, Lauren Kalbfell, Robert Kalbfell, Charles Kalbfell, Frank Kalbfell, and Kayla Kalbfell. Penny’s family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in each of them. Her love for them was constant, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she helped shape with her kindness and devotion.
Henrietta “Penny” Kalbfell will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will remain a blessing to her family and friends, and her life will continue to be celebrated with gratitude and affection.
