The library will host two Zoom programs in November in honor of Veterans Day. The first, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m., will feature a presentation by the U.S. Army Women’s Museum on the Women’s Army Corps (WACs) during the Vietnam War. Using photographs, newspapers and oral testimonies from the Cold War era, the presentation will explore how women were sent to Vietnam to train local women to serve as soldiers and nurses in their own corps.
The second program, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m., will be led by historian Kassidy Cobb and focus on the U.S. Colored Troops of the Civil War. The program will include biographies and Cobb’s personal testimony about her research into and efforts to honor these veterans.
Both programs are virtual and presented in partnership with the Yonkers Public Library. Register online or call the library to request the Zoom links.
