Lakeland Central School District has appointed Gina Depperman as director of elementary curriculum, effective Nov. 2.
Depperman previously served as a K-5 STEM instructional support specialist in the Port Chester-Rye School District, where she supported curriculum implementation, instructional coaching, assessment and professional learning across elementary schools.
“My educational philosophy centers on building trust and strong relationships. I believe meaningful growth happens when teachers feel supported, students feel known and valued, and families feel like true partners in the educational process,” Depperman said in an Oct. 2 district update. “As a leader, I strive to be visible, hands-on, collaborative, and compassionate while creating systems that allow both students and staff to thrive. Effective leadership means listening, learning, and adapting to the unique needs of a school community while maintaining a shared focus on student success.”
She began her career as an elementary teacher with the New York City Department of Education. Depperman holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Queens College in childhood education and special education. She also holds New York state certifications in childhood education, students with disabilities, English for speakers of other languages, and school building and school district leadership.
As director, Depperman will work with teachers and administrators on curriculum and instructional initiatives across the district’s elementary schools.
