Art is in bloom this summer.
The exhibition ran from July 19 to Aug. 3, with an opening reception on July 19. It showcased a vibrant exploration of nature and imagination, inviting artists to interpret floral adventures through realistic, abstract, and conceptual works that highlighted the symbolism of flowers and their emotional and artistic impact.
Floral Adventures featured 139 original pieces of fine art by 75 artists from across the region, showcasing drawings, paintings, photographs, mixed media, and ceramics.
The Jeanne Demotses Awards of Excellence were selected by Tooraj Pourmand, a professional artist and educator. As juror for awards he selected the following:
Best in Show – a color photo by Ira Leff (New Fairfield, CT)
Second – a color photo by Julie van Benthuysen (Scarsdale)
Third– a mixed media piece by Kelly Edwards (Carmel)
Honorable Mention – an oil painting by Lynn Burkett (Carmel)
Honorable Mention – a watercolor by Maria Calegari (Carmel)
Honorable Mention – a pastel by Cecily Dunham-Harvey (Yorktown Heights)
