Two Yorktown family members, including an 18-year-old man, are accused of attacking a juvenile in the BJ’s Wholesale Club parking lot on Crompond Road last week, with one allegedly attempting to hit the victim with a vehicle before both men punched and shoved the juvenile, Yorktown police said.
Officers responded to the store at 3303 Crompond Road at about 8:36 p.m. Oct. 13. Police said the altercation left the juvenile with physical injuries.
It was not immediately clear what relationship, if any, the men had with the juvenile or what sparked the altercation. It was also unclear whether the incident was connected to the store.
Kenneth Rella, 56, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment, both Class A misdemeanors. The 18-year-old, whose name was withheld due to youthful offender status, was charged with third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.
Both men were arrested at the scene and taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. They were arraigned before Judge Gary Raniolo, and a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the juvenile, police said.
Police released details of the arrests Tuesday, with both men scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. this evening. Both were released on their own recognizance.
