Yorktown attorney Marvin Ray Raskin has been reappointed to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie for a four-year term that began April 1.

Heastie first appointed Raskin to the commission in 2018 and reappointed him in 2022.

“I've represented a number of judges, both publicly and privately, who had grievance matters,” he told Yorktown News, adding that’s “how I got to this commission.”

The volunteer commission, a state agency, administers and monitors the ethical conduct of judges.

“The state commission sanctions judges when they are involved in misconduct—anywhere from criminal conduct to improper behavior—lawyers and judges, in particular, are held to a higher standard,” he said.

Raskin, a New York Law School graduate, has maintained a private law practice in the Bronx since 1977 and also has an office in Yorktown Heights. He previously served as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx.

A member of the Bronx County Bar Association for more than 40 years, Raskin served as its president in 1994 and has chaired its Criminal Courts Committee since 1996. He also served on the New York City Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary from 2007 to 2017.
