The Putnam Columbus Parade returned to Mahopac on Oct. 4, with the iconic navigator "sailing" on a special Santa Maria float along with other parade honorees. Grand Marshal Frank Miele led the way (with an assist from last year's GM Frank Lombardi).
Political figures including Congressman Mike Lawler, State Sen. Pete Harckham, Assemblyman Matt Slater, County Legislature candidate Tanner McCracken, Legislator Erin Crowley and County Clerk Michale Bartoli were there along with many local organizations.
Italian American Club of Mahopac President Giulio Cefaloni said the connection between the parade and the Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce Fall Street Festival (see page 3) made the day extra special.
"The Putnam County Columbus Parade and Mahopac Street Fest is a beautiful day of community, celebrating the rich and diverse cultural heritages that make picturesque Putnam County so special," Giulio Cefaloni said.
