Two Charged After Mugging Elderly Man in Mount Kisco

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Two Mount Kisco men are facing charges in the alleged mugging of an 82-year-old man earlier this month.

The victim told police he had been on Main Street around 6:01 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, near T.J. Maxx when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of them grabbed him around the crest and pinned his arms to his side while the other rifled through his pockets, police said.

He believed that one of the pair had been armed with a knife.

After the struggle, the men fled towards Northern Westchester Hospital Center, police said.

Two men fitting the description of the suspects were located on Lexington Avenue. The victim was driven to the location where he identified them as his attackers.

No weapon was found in their possession. The victim was uninjured.

Charged with 2nd Degree Robbery were Yeferson Rivera-Cruz, 21, of Lexington Avenue and Heiman Lopez-Rax, 22, of East Hyatt Avenue, police said.

They were booked at the county police’s Green Street station and held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
In addition to the robbery charge, Rivera-Cruz had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.

In Mount Kisco, he faces charges of 2nd Degree Criminal Contempt, 3rd Degree Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief.

In Cortlandt, Rivera-Cruz had a warrant for a petit larceny charge, police said.
