Thank you for printing her voice

Dear Editor,

Every day my dad would pick up the local paper from the street corner box.

All my working life I received the paper and I can say there’s never been a shortage of good editorials defending democracy, which some seem to take for granted.

Still, I was moved when reading a high school senior’s essay. John Jay High School’s Maya Wichman reminds us that there is a price to pay in denying individual liberty. She reminds us that Proposition 1, the Equal Rights Amendment, is not some ballot measure. It is security for you, me, anyone. Thank you Katonah-Lewisboro Times for publishing this senior’s essay.
