Tanner McCracken defends his record

Posted

Tanner MacCracken sent the following statement to Mahopac News in response to a Carmel Democratic Committee press release questioning his attendance at school board meetings, residency and financial disclosures.

My opponent would rather attack my attendance record than explain why she deserves to represent Mahopac. For the record, I maintained nearly a 90% total attendance rate over six years of volunteer service on the Mahopac School Board, where I delivered greater transparency, stronger parental rights, and a first-in-the-state personal financial literacy program graduation requirement.

Now, let’s talk about my opponent.

Where was she when I was fighting for Mahopac families on the School Board? I don’t recall seeing her at a single meeting until my final one, after she decided to run against me. Where was she when I was attending County Legislature meetings for years as a concerned citizen? I never saw her there, either.

I have lived in Mahopac since I was 6 years old — for over 21 years. I’ve spent my life serving our community, long before I ever asked for anyone’s vote. My opponent seems to have discovered public service around the same time she discovered the ballot.

I show up whether there’s an election or not. Can she say the same?

Mahopac deserves a legislator with a record of results, not a candidate whose entire campaign consists of attacking someone else’s.

This is now my second opponent this year that has tried to distract voters by attacking me instead of talking about the affordability issues impacting my neighbors. I will keep doing what I have been doing: fighting for the people of Mahopac.

I have filed more than one campaign finance report through the EFS system and I have been on and off the phone with the BOE resolving a technical issue.</font size>
