SOMERS, N.Y. - Fire has destroyed a house in Somers.
The two-alarm blaze started early on Friday, March 21, on Loomis Drive in The Preserves, a residential development in the hamlet of Baldwin Place.
Responding to the scene first were crews from the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
Providing mutual aid were units from Yorktown, Mahopac Falls, Mahopac, Golden's Bridge, Katonah, Mohegan, Carmel, and Croton Falls.
Also assisting were the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services, the Somers police, state police, NYSE&G, and Con Ed.
On standby were the Ossining and South Salem Fire Departments.
Smoke was billowing from the roof as emergency responders arrived. An attempt was made “to make an aggressive push, but the fire had already compromised the first two floors upon entry,” the SVFD said.
No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation. Firefighters were at the scene for about seven hours.
Halston Media is attempting to confirm a report that no one was living in the house at the time.
The structure had to be razed.
