Repeat DWI, ATM vandalism, assault, and harassment among recent arrests

Yorktown police reported several recent arrests, including a 31-year-old repeat drunk driver facing felony charges after a two-vehicle crash, a man accused of damaging a drive-thru ATM, a teen charged with assault, and a woman cited for harassment at Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace.

Repeat drunk driver faces felony charge

Yorktown police said they responded around 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, to a two-vehicle crash on Old Crompond Road and found Luk A. Saljanin, 31, of Yorktown Heights, was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Saljanin was taken to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation of minor injuries and later processed at Yorktown Police headquarters. He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction within 10 years, a class E felony, refusing a breath test, and multiple traffic violations, including failure to use a designated lane, failure to keep right, and unsafe lane changes.

He was issued traffic summonses and released to a responsible adult. Saljanin is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on April 14 at 6 p.m.

Yorktown man faces felony for ATM damage

A 21-year-old Yorktown man was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony, after Yorktown police said he intentionally damaged a drive-thru ATM at Bank of America in Triangle Shopping Center on March 4. He voluntarily surrendered to police on April 7, was processed and arraigned by Judge Raniolo, and released on his own recognizance. The case was later adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.

Teen charged with assault in argument

A 16-year-old Elmsford girl, whose name is withheld due to youthful offender status, was charged with juvenile delinquency, the underlying offense being third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor if charged as an adult, after Yorktown police said she struck and scratched a victim during an argument.

A juvenile appearance ticket was served to her guardian on April 3. She is scheduled to appear in the Westchester County Department of Probation on April 22 at 1 p.m.

Woman charged with harassment after pushing customer at Uncle G’s

A 23-year-old woman from Yorktown Heights was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, after allegedly pushing another customer into a shopping cart on April 6 at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace. She was arrested, processed, and released on her own recognizance. Her court appearance is scheduled for April 23 at 6 p.m. in Yorktown Justice Court.
