A Mahopac man with seven previous felony convictions has been sentenced to seven years in state prison on drug charges.
Omar Miles, 47, was sentenced Aug. 19 to seven years in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty in June to fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy.
Miles was arrested Dec. 22, 2025, following a months-long joint investigation by the Carmel Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit into cocaine sales from a Mahopac residence.
Investigators determined that Miles and a co-defendant were allegedly selling cocaine from a home at 60 Union Valley Road. Charges against the co-defendant remain pending.
Police executed a search warrant at the residence Dec. 22 and found illegal pills, cocaine and equipment used to prepare narcotics for sale, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Authorities said Miles also had more than one-eighth of an ounce of cocaine on him when he was arrested.
Tendy said the latest conviction is Miles’ eighth felony conviction. He was previously convicted by a Putnam County jury in 2018 on multiple felony narcotics charges. His parole supervision stemming from that conviction ended Aug. 18, 2025, approximately four months before his latest arrest.
Tendy credited Carmel police, the Sheriff’s Office and prosecutors for the investigation and subsequent case.
“This was a well-orchestrated investigation and a strong case that resulted in a negotiated plea and much-deserved lengthy state prison sentence,” Tendy said.
The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Breanne Smith.
