The Lakeland Central School District will introduce ParentSquare this school year as part of a merger between ParentSquare and Remind, according to a district update.
ParentSquare will be used for district and school announcements, reminders, emergency notifications and messages from teachers and staff, the district said.
Families will receive an invitation to activate their ParentSquare accounts, which will be connected to the contact information on file in the district’s student information system.
Once activated, parents and guardians will be able to receive messages by email, text or through the ParentSquare mobile app. The platform also will allow families to communicate with teachers and school staff, view school and district announcements, manage notification preferences and access communications related to their children, according to the district.
The district is asking families to make sure their contact information is accurate. Families with multiple children enrolled in the district should have their children associated with the same parent or guardian account when the same contact information is on file, officials said.
The transition follows ParentSquare’s acquisition of Remind and the merger of the two platforms. Many of the features Remind users are familiar with will be available through ParentSquare, along with additional features and enhancements, according to the district.
Families who have questions or need help activating their accounts should contact their child’s school, the district said.
