Inside the new era of Mahopac’s Trattoria Sei

Posted

Two brothers are making waves in Mahopac—and across the region’s restaurant scene. Christopher and Michael D’Ambrosio are bringing a fresh, energetic spark to Trattoria Sei with their dynamic blend of culinary passion and sharp business acumen.

Joining the team, Director of Operations Jennifer Delgado, brings her years of working in beloved and accredited eateries in New York City, ensuring their vision and intentional hospitality stays at the forefront of each service. This already beloved Italian eatery is reaching new heights while staying true to the authentic flavors and warm hospitality that have made it a local favorite.

The menu spans from classic antipasti like clams Oreganata and burrata platters to signature entrees such as Zuppa di Pesce over black linguine, succulent filet mignon and a pizza playground with flavor-packed Nonna style pizzas that go way beyond the basics—all under $30 for most dishes, making indulgence accessible.

Chris, the chef behind the scenes, continues to cook Sei’s favorties while elevating ingredients and presentation. Their pizzas and breads are made in-house without bromate or stabilizer, staying true to a commitment to clean, quality ingredients. With every handmade pasta, seafood special, and perfectly fired pizza, Chris is capturing the hearts and appetites of diners with creativity rooted in Italian tradition. Meanwhile, Michael brings his entrepreneurial mindset and people-first approach, keeping the buzz going strong in the community.

The full-service bar is equally exciting, constantly rolling out seasonal cocktails like watermelon-infused gin martinis and the Melon Drop with fresh cantaloupe juice, titos vodka, basil and homemade ginger syrup—that pair perfectly with their menu or shine on their own. The wine program has also taken an elegant and thoughtful turn to introduce the community to excellent producers at affordable prices.

Whether you’re popping in for a romantic dinner, gathering friends for a celebration, or booking a private event, Trattoria Sei delivers in all the right ways. They also offer catering, so you can bring that same elevated Italian flavor to your next special occasion.

We sat down with Chris and Jennifer to learn how they’re honoring tradition while bringing fresh energy to Trattoria Sei.

Q.   Since the new ownership, what changes or enhancements have been made to take Trattoria Sei to the next level while honoring its roots?

Jen: We have made subtle but necessary changes that make our guests feel special. From the uniform to how we set our tables, any small detail adds value. We have ramped up our educational segments with the team to enhance the guest experience while empowering their confidence. There isn’t one moment you wont see us smiling because we are all truly excited to help create memories and regulars alike. The ambiance and special touches make an already established restaurant feel new and exciting!

Q.  Your culinary journey clearly influences the menu— Can you share a bit about your background—your training or journey—and how it shapes the dining experience here?

Chris: It's truly special to be part of a family business, especially because my love for cooking started in the heart of our family kitchen. My nonna was the one who first inspired me, she shared her recipes with love and taught me the joy of creating beautiful meals that brought everyone together.

That early passion eventually led me to train at the Culinary Institute of America, where I gained the structure and technique needed to grow as a chef. But at the core, my cooking is still deeply rooted in family traditions, the memories we made around the table, and the inspiration I’ve gathered through travel.

Now, as both chef and business owner, I’m honored to carry those influences into every dish we serve. It means so much that our community trusts us,to not just serve a meal, but to be your kitchen for a few hours. Our goal is to make you feel at home, with food that’s heartfelt, thoughtful, and made with purpose
