Flood watch remains in effect for Westchester through Wednesday morning

Posted

A flood watch remains in effect for Westchester County until 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Westchester County Office of Emergency Services.

County officials said emergency services personnel are monitoring conditions, and county departments are on standby to respond if needed.

Residents are urged not to drive through flooded roads or around barricades, as rising floodwaters can quickly sweep away vehicles or cause drivers to lose control. Officials noted that most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

Residents should also avoid entering floodwaters, which may contain hazards including live electrical wires, sewage, harmful bacteria, chemicals, debris and wildlife.
