SOMERS, N.Y. - With a heatwave expected to impact the region through Wednesday, June 25, town officials have announced that a pair of cooling stations are available for Somers residents.
The community can beat the heat at the following locations:
Somers Library, 80 Primrose Street (914-232-5717)
Monday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Wednesday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Van Tassell House, 100 Primrose Street (914-232-0807)
Monday to Friday - 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The town also issued the following statement, offering tips to stay safe during elevated temperatures:
“During hot weather, particularly during multiple days of constant heat, spending at least a few hours in air conditioning each day can help reduce the risk of heat-related illness. Air conditioning is especially important for vulnerable groups of people, such as older adults, children and people with certain health conditions.”
