BEDFORD, N.Y. - The Bedford Fire Department and other first responders rushed to Fox Lane Middle School on Friday after receiving a call about a possible chemical exposure.

On the afternoon of Nov. 15, the BFD and EMS units arrived at the school on South Bedford Road, requesting additional support from the Armonk Fire Department and Westchester EMS.

The department received reports that several students were ill, and coordinated with Northern Westchester Hospital.

At the scene, the Bedford Fire Department handled isolation and ventilation of the room involved, and were joined by members of the Katonah and Bedford Hills departments, as well as the Westchester County Hazmat Team.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the product and exposures in question were not significant or harmful, and FLMS staff handled the cleaning and disposal of materials.

Students affected were evaluated and released at the scene.
