SOMERS, N.Y. - Somers officials are giving folks the heads-up about an additional, albeit very temporary, traffic restriction associated with the Route 202 culvert replacement project.
The existing closure and detour remain in effect, but starting on Friday, Aug. 28, Route 202 will be closed beginning at the traffic light by DeCicco & Sons heading toward Warren Street and Fireman’s Field.
The main entrance to Heritage Hills will remain open and accessible, the town said.
Residents will still be able to enter and exit Heritage Hills through the main entrance.
Motorists approaching Warren Street from the direction of DeCicco & Sons will not be able to turn right onto Warren Street.
Warren Street will also be closed from the culvert project area to the traffic light at West Hill Drive.
Residents who live on Warren Street within the closure area will continue to have access to their homes from the West Hill side.
However, they will not be able to turn left onto Route 202 as they have been able to do during the culvert project, the town said.
Drivers were urged to continue to follow the posted detours and to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Supervisor Robert Scorrano, in a social media post, thanked the public for its “continued patience and cooperation” during the culvert project.
He assured folks that finishing touches such as paving and striping would be completed before the start of school.
“We are on target,” Scorrano told Halston Media Thursday.
