North Salem first responders race to pileup on 684

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The northbound lanes of I-684 were shut down last week after a six-car pileup involving a rental truck snarled traffic and sent multiple people to the hospital. 

Just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, members of the Croton Falls Fire Department and North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps were called to the scene of the multi-car accident, with units needing to approach through the southbound lane. 

First responders needed to extract a seriously injured patient from one of the vehicles, and six patients were taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment. 

Units were assisted at the scene by personnel from Westchester and Somers EMS and the New York State Police, and operated at the scene for an hour and a half.
