NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A man struck and killed in a car-versus-pedestrian collision on Interstate 684 in North Salem early Monday morning has been identified by New York State Police.
The victim was identified as Arturo Martinez Jimenez, 54, of Brewster, according to State Police.
Troopers from the Somers barracks responded to the southbound lanes of I-684 near mile marker 24.3 at approximately 2 a.m. on Jan. 5 following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
A preliminary investigation determined that Martinez Jimenez was walking in the left lane of the highway when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. No additional details about the vehicle or driver have been released.
The investigation remains ongoing. State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the New York State Police Somers Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 914-742-6057.
