Brewster man arrested for public lewdness on bike path in Carmel

A Brewster man has been arrested and charged with public lewdness after sheriff’s deputies found him naked on the Putnam Trailway bike path in Carmel Hamlet.

Acting Sheriff Brian Hess said that Dennis O. Cantoral Lopez was arrested during the late evening hours of Monday, Nov. 3, while deputies were conducting nighttime patrols along the pathway. Hess said that at approximately 11p.m., in the area behind the Putnam Plaza, Route 6, deputies observed a man—later identified as Cantoral Lopez—along the bike path fully nude.

Deputies took Cantoral Lopez into custody without further incident. He was charged with public lewdness, a misdemeanor, and trespassing, a violation.
Cantoral Lopez was released on his own recognizance and given an appearance ticket to return to Carmel Town Court at a later date.
