Dear Editor,
Representative Mike Lawler presents himself as a moderate, so at first look, you wouldn’t know he is extreme. He’s got a nice smile. He sends lots of emails proclaiming all the things he has done for our district, and he is good on TV.
And unlike Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz, when he is on TV, he does not say outlandish and controversial things. But if you look closely, you will see that it is all a façade, and he is more extreme than he lets on. Lawler is pro-Trump and I believe if they both get reelected, Lawler will be a rubber stamp.
This presidential race is so close, it might as well come down to a coin flip and, if former President Trump gets elected in November, we need a check on his power and we can count on Mondaire Jones to be that check on a Trump administration.
Unfortunately, we cannot count on Lawler to be that check. The past is prologue and one way to see what Lawler will do in the future is to see what he did in the past. A good resource to go to is Jones’ website to see the difference between Jones and Lawler for yourself. While the people of the 17th District voted for Lawler two years ago, I am confident in this election our district will not make that mistake again.
