Two Mahopac residents have been charged with a litany of felonies related to the alleged possession and distribution of crack cocaine.
Carmel police said a months-long investigation led to the arrest of Omar Miles 46, and Samantha Dekrell, 33, on Union Valley Road.
In a prepared statement, Carmel police said that in the fall of 2025 a patrol officer received a complaint during an unrelated call. Detectives immediately initiated an investigation while partnering with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Enforcement Division and the Westchester/Putnam FBI Safe Street Task Force.
Detectives said they gathered significant evidence that provided cause for both search and arrest warrants. As a result, the two individuals were taken into custody on Dec. 22. Miles was taken into custody outside of the residence and Dekrell was arrested during the execution of a search and arrest warrant at the residence.
Police said they seized a significant amount of cash and quantities of narcotics that appeared to be crack cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia.
The pair face a combined total of 15 felonies and 10 misdemeanors related to the possession and sale of controlled substances. They were arraigned in Carmel Town Court. Dekrell was freed pending a future appearance; Miles was remanded to Putnam County Jail pending a bail hearing.
