LAKE CARMEL, N.Y. — Investigators say that someone in Putnam County may be engaged in the ritualistic mutilation and killing of birds.
The Putnam County SPCA Law Enforcement Division was contacted by the Kent police on Friday, Oct. 3, regarding a clear garbage bag containing dead birds on the side of Holland Drive, near Route 52, in the area of Lake Carmel.
Upon arrival, Putnam County SPCA detectives said they found two mutilated and decapitated roosters/chickens and one mutilated and decapitated white dove inside the bag. According to the investigators, the area where the bag was found was only a short distance from where other bags of mutilated animals have been found in recent months, possibly the result of ritualistic killings.
The Putnam County SPCA asks anyone with information regarding this incident to call them at 845-520-5916. Callers may remain anonymous.
