In the wake of Sheridan Gorman’s horrific and senseless murder, Yorktown News publisher Brett Freeman called on readers to “come together, support one another, and help ensure Sheridan’s life is honored—and never forgotten," (Yorktown tragedy felt across region, questions remain).

Dear Editor,
The recent decision by Lakeland Superintendent Dr. Karen Gagliardi to invest in a large number of diesel buses and assorted gas-driven vehicles, seemingly a pre-emption to the NYS Electric Bus mandate coming in 2027, is a continuing affront to Yorktown's children.

Dear Editor,
At this time, I need the town and school to work in collaboration to address our community and school family’s concerns.
At the recent Town Board meeting, it was announced that March would be recognized as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Yorktown. Now that April is here — dedicated to Autism Awareness — this is a particularly fitting and timely topic to address. As a Yorktown SEPTA board member, a resident for over three decades and a YHS graduate, I am deeply passionate about these concerns and committed to helping resolve them, as they are shared by many in our community — not just myself.

Dear Editor,
There are 6,465 registered Democrats in Carmel.
And for too long they have had no voice in their town or county governments. As the newly elected chair of the Carmel Democratic Committee, I am determined to change that. I have good reason to be optimistic. Last year’s Democratic candidates in Carmel significantly closed the gap on Election Day, coming closer to success than they have in decades. County-wide, Philipstown is solidly blue, while Putnam Valley, Patterson and Kent all elected Democrats in their town governments. Our town committee is growing, as well, and I am joined by a strong leadership team to achieve this goal.

Dear Editor,
Every Mike Lawler town hall is fraudulent and an insult to his constituents.
I pay his salary; he is my public servant. And as my servant, I expect respect, but all I get at his town halls is insult and disrespect.

Dear Editor,
Again?
Another life taken from our extended community.
Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old freshman at Loyola University Chicago from Yorktown, was doing something entirely normal, walking with friends near campus, when her life was suddenly and violently taken by a criminal in the country here illegally.

Dear Editor,
Congress is supposed to decide when this country goes to war. That’s not a procedural nicety — it’s the Constitution, designed to prevent exactly what we're watching now: a president initiating sustained military action while the public is left to guess at the objective, the legal authority, the cost, and the endgame.
