Campobasso puts neighbors before politics

Posted

Dear Editor,

In today’s world, it seems easier than ever to divide ourselves by politics, opinions and differences. What I appreciate most about John Campobasso is that he refuses to see people through that lens first. He sees neighbors.

As a Yorktown parent and former Town Councilwoman, I’ve watched John lead with the understanding that communities are strongest when we can sit at the same table, disagree respectfully, and still work toward solutions. He doesn’t have to agree with everyone to treat everyone with dignity.

One lesson I’ve carried throughout my own work is that fair is not always equal. Every family, every child, every small business, and every community challenge comes with different needs. Good leadership isn’t about giving everyone the exact same thing — it’s about listening carefully, understanding the circumstances, and making decisions that are thoughtful, balanced, and just.

That is how John approaches public service.

He understands that leadership is about showing up, asking questions before making assumptions, and remembering that behind every issue is a person. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to the community, whether you supported him before or not, John has a way of making people feel heard.

Our communities don’t need more division. We need leaders who can bridge differences, build trust, and remind us that being neighbors matters more than being on opposite sides of an issue.

That is why I proudly support John Campobasso for Westchester County Legislator in District 4. I believe he will continue to lead with humility, fairness and the kind of steady character that brings people together instead of pushing them apart.
