Suzanne Rhoda (Frisch) Rubin, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on December 15, 2025, at Stone Hill at Andover after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick A. Rubin and the daughter of the late David L. and Sylvia (Lazarus) Frisch.

Born on December 17, 1933, in Gloversville, NY, Sue graduated from the Mary A. Burnham School in Northampton, MA, Lasell College in Newton, MA, and Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She majored in speech language and English and enjoyed a long career in both speech therapy and teaching. Her longest and most treasured teaching role was in the New Bedford, MA Public Schools.

Sue’s lifelong and greatest love was for her beloved husband, Fred. Sue and Fred were born just months apart in Gloversville and enjoyed their childhoods together as friends and neighbors and ultimately as high school sweethearts. Despite Sue’s parents enrolling her in boarding school in Massachusetts, distance did not deter them, and their relationship continued during her time in college and his at Colgate University. Just weeks after graduating college, Sue and Fred were married on June 26, 1955, in Saratoga Springs, NY. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage until his death in 1997. Together, they raised their three children, Judi, Steven and Lori.

During their marriage, Fred’s years at Albany Law School and career in economic development took them to homes in Albany and Glens Falls, NY, Pittsfield, MA, Torrington, CT, Burlington, VT, Northboro, MA, and finally, New Bedford, MA, where Sue resided for 46 years until 2022. The frequent moves for the family were challenging, yet they created connections within each community in which they lived. Above all, Sue filled each home with love, family and traditions.

Sue was a member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue in New Bedford for more than four decades and was a life-long member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue in Gloversville.

She is survived by her three children, Judi (Rubin) McAnaw of Katonah, NY, Steven Rubin and his wife, Susan, of Middleton, MA, and Lori (Rubin) Burke and her husband, John, of North Andover, MA. She is also survived by her six adoring grandchildren, Sarah McAnaw and husband, Evan Kimpel, of Katonah, NY, Emma McAnaw and husband, Tyler Rudolph, of Phoenixville, PA; Jack Rubin of Brooklyn, NY, Josh Rubin of New York City, Drew Burke of New York City, and Evan Burke of Boston, as well as her great-granddaughter, Maeve Kimpel. She is also survived by her sister, Carole (Frisch) Sherman, and nieces, Debi Sherman and Dale Sherman. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael McAnaw, brother-in-law, Walter Sherman, in-laws Harry and Elizabeth (Adelman) Rubin, brother-in-law, Jerry Rubin, and sister-in-law, Gail Rubin.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Graveside Service in the Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Clyde St., Gloversville, on Sunday, December 21st at 1:00PM. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Bradford~Haverhill.
