Cristian Suna Martinez, known to everyone as “Cris,” 32, of Katonah, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Northern Westchester Hospital.
Cristian was born on November 18, 1993, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Mark Martinez and Connie Rash. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 2012.
A talented artist, Cristian took AP Art in high school. She had a great sense of humor and was gifted at photo editing, often coming up with hilarious images to match whatever was happening at the moment. She was quick-witted and loved joking around, especially behind the bar. Throughout her years working in hospitality, from Brew & Co. to DeCicco's and most recently Wogies, she had regular customers who followed her from one place to the next.
Cristian always went out of her way to make others feel special. She enjoyed celebrating birthdays and finding thoughtful gifts. When she learned someone was going through an experience she could relate to, she made a point of reaching out to offer support or advice. She also valued bringing people together, starting the Katonah Living Facebook page to help connect local residents.
Cristian met her husband, Tyler, in Austin, Texas. They had both worked at Irene's before being introduced by a mutual friend. One evening, while waiting in line for ramen with two friends, they were so caught up in each other that it felt like nobody else was there. Tyler repeatedly delayed his move back to New York to spend more time with Cristian. She followed him in 2018, and they married in 2022.
More than anything, Cristian loved being a mother. Emilia Ryan and Sadie Jeane were her world. She took pride in doing their hair, dressing them in the cutest outfits, and taking them to activities. She managed their schedules and appointments while always finding new crafts to do together. Cristian was determined to raise her girls to be kind and polite. Even at their young ages, they say "thank you" for just about everything, a reflection of the values she worked so hard to instill in them.
Cristian is survived by her husband, Tyler Joseph, and their daughters, Emilia Ryan and Sadie Jeane; her father and stepmother, Mark and Rosa Martinez; her mother and stepfather, Connie and Mark Rash; her sisters, Socorro and Sophia Martinez; her stepbrothers, Mark Jr. and Ryan Rash; her grandparents, Gary Kaseberg and Nancy Martinez; her father-in-law, Richard Joseph, and mother-in-law, Nuda Sarcone; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Caira and Tyler Simone. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Cristian's family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2026 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd, Katonah, NY from 4 to 8 p.m.
Her graveside service and burial will be the next day, Tuesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 304 Lexington Ave., Mt.Kisco, NY
