Johanna G. Militano of Brewster, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in New York, NY, at 85 years old.
Johanna was born May 12, 1941, in Mount Vernon, NY, to the late Dr. James Gaetaniello and Adele née Huch Gaetaniello. She graduated from Dover Plains High School in 1958. Johanna obtained a Bachelor of Science at Syracuse University in 1962, then attended medical school at the Università di Bologna in Bologna, Italy, where she met Salvatore Militano. They married on April 24, 1965. In 2003, they moved into their home on the Gaetaniello property in Brewster, NY, where she lived until her death.
Johanna was predeceased by her husband Salvatore who passed away on January 23, 2013. She is survived by her daughters Alexandra Militano of New York, NY, and Antonia Militano Mulè, son-in-law Salvatore Mulè and grandson Biagio Mulè, also of New York, NY, and sister Elaine Hamid of Geneva, Switzerland.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10 a.m., at the Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, NY.
