Emilio Luigi Sironi, born on August 2, 1938, in Monza, Italy, son to Paolo and Pierina Sironi, and brother to Gabriele Sironi passed away on April 19, 2026. He lived a life defined by intellectual curiosity, deep relationships, and an unwavering commitment to what mattered most - his family and the pursuit of meaning.

Emilio was the beloved husband of Suzanne Doty Sironi and a devoted father to Claudia Sironi Biernacki (Peter Biernacki) and Sylvia Sironi Rowe (Ian Rowe). He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Sophie and Nicolas Biernacki, and Camille and Oscar Rowe, each of whom brought him immense pride, joy and laughter.

A life-long learner, Emilio studied math and engineering at the Institute Supérieur des Industries Nucléaires in Brussels, Belgium, and at the CEA Cadarache laboratories in Aix-en-Provence, France. Italian was his native language, but through determination and curiosity he taught himself both French and English, opening the door to a truly international life and career. He bravely left the world he knew and came to the U.S. to study nuclear engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he fell in love with Suzy, and they were married in 1965. His growing career as a dynamic executive took the family first to Brookline, Massachusetts, where both their girls were born. They lived as a family in Bethesda and Baltimore, MD, and Louveciennes, France, before they finally settled in Bedford, NY, in 1978. In his long career, Emilio worked at Bechtel, Martin Marietta, GE, and was an executive at IBM for over 40 years.

Emilio will be remembered for his insatiable appetite for reading and reflection. He devoured books on history, religion, and the human condition, always searching, thoughtfully and earnestly, for the meaning of life. Yet his curiosity was never solitary; he found great joy in engaging with others, sharing ideas, and exploring different perspectives in lively, social settings. His curiosity was not passive; it shaped how he lived, how he connected with others, and how he saw the world.

A man of enduring friendships, Emilio maintained close relationships from childhood that stood the test of time and distance, a testament to his loyalty and the depth of his character. He was deeply devoted to his beloved Suzy, whose partnership and love were at the center of his life. He was equally passionate about the simple and sensory joys of life: cooking, sharing meals, exploring new cuisines, and tending to his garden.

To his grandchildren, Emilio was pure magic. Whether hiding "diamonds" in the driveway or bringing laughter with his quick wit and joyful spirit, he created memories they will carry with them forever. His sense of humor, warmth, and playfulness were as defining as his intellect.

Emilio approached life with optimism and intention. He valued experiences over possessions and was guided by a strong moral compass—quietly and consistently doing what was right, even when no one was watching. He was always kind Above all else, he loved his family deeply, and that love was returned in full. He leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, integrity, laughter, and love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
