YCNS Tag Sale

Yorktown Community Nursery School is collecting gently used toys, clothing and household items for its annual tag sale. Donations will be collected daily through 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at 247 Veterans Rd. Proceeds will benefit the nursery school.

Columbus Day

Town offices are closed for the federal holiday on Monday, Oct. 12. There will be no kitchen trash or recycling collections. Monday collections will be picked up Tuesday, Oct. 13, and Tuesday collections will be picked up Wednesday, Oct. 14. All other collections will remain the same.

E-Waste, Paint, Textiles and Car Tires Drop Off Day

Drop off materials in the police department’s front parking lot from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Mobile Shredder

Residents can bring up to four file-sized (10-by-12-by-15-inch) boxes of confidential papers per household to the Mobile Shredder from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at 3800 Sunnyside St., Shrub Oak. Business, institutional or commercial papers, junk mail and newspapers will not be accepted.

Pink Charity Game

Friday, Oct. 16, 6 p.m. at Lakeland High School football field. The boys varsity football team will face Carmel in the annual Pink Charity Football Game.

Sheridan Gorman Heart of Yorktown Cup

The Sheridan Gorman Heart of Yorktown Cup will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, at Yorktown High School, with the JV game at 10 a.m. and varsity game at 3 p.m.

The field hockey event will honor the memory of Sheridan Gorman and celebrate friendship, kindness and sportsmanship. The Sheridan Gorman Foundation will award scholarships to one Yorktown senior and one Lakeland senior, with proceeds from the event supporting the scholarships.

Commemorative T-shirts will also be sold as part of the fundraiser at zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/tshirts-sheridan-gorman-heart-of-yorktown-cup. Shirts can be picked up at Yorktown High School Oct. 14 or 15 from 4 to 7 p.m.
