One of Yorktown’s own is among Westchester County’s Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Anne M. O’Neill — and 60 other seniors from across 33 municipalities — were honored for their achievements and contributions to their communities at a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 5, in Tarrytown.

Ahead of the ceremony, County Executive Ken Jenkins said he was “deeply honored” to recognize the Class of 2025 and praised the Hall of Fame as “one of the county’s most meaningful traditions” because it gave Westchester the “opportunity to express our gratitude to the seniors whose leadership, service, and dedication have strengthened our communities.”

Jefferson Village resident O’Neill is, according to her nominator, Town Clerk Diana L. Quast, “more than a neighbor—she is a pillar of the community, a dedicated leader, and a source of unwavering care.”

A retired registered nurse, she heads the residential development’s health services, providing monthly blood pressure checks and organizing classes that help seniors maintain their mobility and reduce the risk of falls.

“Safety first” is the 80-year-old’s motto, Quast said, adding that “this unique blend of medical expertise and personal kindness has significantly enhanced Jefferson Village’s reputation, particularly in its support for seniors.”

She is a key driver behind social life for her fellow seniors, organizing parties at the clubhouse and rounding up volunteers for community events such as the Toys for Tots drive. O’Neill is the event coordinator for the Mohegan AARP and rounds up vendors for Jefferson Village’s newsletter.

As a eucharistic minister with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Shrub Oak, O’Neill helps distribute communion to the homebound.

Over her impressive career, the New York City native has been a floor nurse, nursing educator, discharge planner, and nursing administrator.

She and her husband, Charlie, have one child and three grandchildren
