Wednesday, Dec. 18
Chris Gittleson (203, 530), Vinny Benedetto (214, 373), TJ Conti (185, 361), Zachary Kristensen (150, 275), Danny Parks (149, 266), Noah Raine (119, 213), Alex Macias (95), and Zachary Cohen (78) led Lakeland to a 7-0 triumph against John Jay-Cross River/Brewster 7-0.

Thursday, Dec. 19
Conti (182, 496), Benedetto (189, 457), Harrison Cohen (131, 248), Parks (230), Luis Zuniga (101, 197), Gittelson (140), Andrew Wodja (119), and Ricky Peterson (96) propelled the Hornets to a 7-0 win versus Briarcliff.
“Today’s biggest theme was picking up spares as we won the second game by one pin, coming down to the wire, and keeping our heads up and to push on, even when it seems like the lanes are not on our side,” Conti said.
YORKTOWN BOYS BOWLING (33-2)
Yorktown 5, Hen Hud 2
Wednesday, Dec. 19
Kevin Kirey (207, 560), Finn Larsen (185, 515), Dylan Katz (190, 489), Kyle Cavalieri (170, 440), and Gian Monegro (136, 364) helped Yorktown to a 5-2 victory versus Hendrick Hudson.
“The key to winning against Hen Hud was to focus and not think about whether we were going to win or lose,” Larsen said.

Kerry Pike (144, 384), Arielle Ascanio (168, 282), Molly Shubert (114, 201), Vielka Toxqui (109, 175), Janessa DeJesus (83, 158), Jovana Sedek (81, 158), Nada Elfgeeh (98), and Yelena Saliveros (79) delivered for the Hornets in their 7-0 victory against John Jay-Cross River/Brewster.

Lakeland won against Briarcliff 7-0, behind the performances of Pike (148, 400), Ascanio (126, 354), Shubert (110, 271), Elfgeeh (134, 222), Sophie Schreiner (116, 221), and Saliveros (84, 168).
“We were very optimistic and confident going into the game, and we consistently kept that mood throughout the game,” Pike said. “Our constant support of one another helped us take another win. Briarcliff’s sportsmanship was also amazing and its a great team to play against.”

“What enabled me to wrestle so well today was our challenging week of practice,” Hurley said. “Me and my training partners (Aristy and Max Visconti) worked very hard this week and coach (Dave) Bergen pushed us during practice to our limit which helped a lot. I came in with a mindset that I wouldn’t accept a loss and I really took that mentality onto the mat today to help me go 5-0 and earn team Most Outstanding Wrestler (MOW).”

“It felt great to be able to earn six points for Yorktown,” Muscolino said. “I have spent so much time trying to help motivate this team with the hope of becoming section champs for a second time. Unfortunately, we fell short of our goal this season. As the captain, I want to inspire the others to give their best efforts no matter the outcome as we advance into the season. I was able to do so with my determination for the sport. I treated it like any other match with the end result of achieving a win.”
LAKELAND GIRLS BASKETBALL (2-4)
Lakeland 45, Edgemont 20
Thursday, Dec. 19, Edgemont High School
Lakeland bounced back from a loss to Section 1 Class AA championship contender Rye two days earlier with a 45-20 victory against Edgemont.
“The loss to Rye was a tough one so it was a great feeling to come back tonight against Edgemont,” said Lakeland’s Sarah Devane, who tallied a game-high 18 points and 7 rebounds. “We really came together as a team and worked together to get this win.”
Leading 22-12 at the half, Lakeland took a stranglehold of the game by outscoring Edgemont 16-2 in the third quarter.
“After halftime, we really wanted to increase our energy and come out with a win,” Devane said. “We passed the ball and were quick on the court. Everyone played tough defense which allowed us to get steals and push the ball. The whole team contributed to this win which felt good and motivates us to keep this streak going.”
Liliana Aguire (9 points, 4 steals), Riley Waters (6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals), Allie Waters (5 points), Emma Burke (5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals), and Tara McCabe (2 points) also got into the scoring column for the Hornets.
LAKELAND BOYS BASKETBALL (2-4)

Saturday, Dec. 21, Lakeland High School
Lakeland fell to Ossining 58-52, led by Anthony Attanasio (17 points), Aadi Sandhu (12 points), and Oban Rader (8 rebounds).
BYSNS ICE HOCKEY (5-2)

Saturday, Dec. 21, Brewster Ice Arena
BYSNS (Brewster/Yorktown/Somers/North Salem) lost to Mahopac 7-5.
