YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Last month, the Yorktown Police arrested three men in unrelated incidents on charges including driving while intoxicated, menacing, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and other offenses.
DWI
An Elmsford man accused of driving drunk, with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, is facing numerous charges after leading police on a chase.
On Friday, Nov. 22, Fausto Rumipulla Villa, 39, was traveling westbound on Route 202 when the department said it received a report of an erratic drive. Responding officers located the vehicle quickly, and found it failing to stay in its lane. When police attempted to pull the car over, the driver refused to stop and fled westbound on Route 202, driving recklessly and committing multiple traffic violations, the department said.
The vehicle then drove into the opposite lane and into oncoming traffic, almost colliding with multiple vehicles and motorists. The chase came to an end when Rumipulla Villa stopped in the middle of Route 202. A check of his records found that both his driver’s license and vehicle registration were suspended.
Police said it determined Rumipulla Villa’s blood alcohol content was .18 percent or more, more than twice the legal limit. Police also found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Rumipulla Villa is being charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated of .18% or more, both unclassified misdemeanors; aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a class E felony; unlawful feeling of a police officer in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor; reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor; operation a vehicle with registration suspended, an unclassified misdemeanor in addition to possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, unlicensed operator, and other traffic infractions.
He was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance to a responsible party. He was due back in court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Menacing
A Mohegan resident was arrested and charged with menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. The 36-year-old man allegedly brandished a knife towards the victim, creating fear for life and safety.
He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance by Judge Aviah Cohen-Pierson and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. He’s due to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument
A Dallas, Texas resident was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor. In addition, Yorktown Police also charged the 23-year-old man with three traffic infractions—unlicensed operator, unregistered vehicle and uninsured vehicle—and two parking violations—parking less than 15 feet from fire hydrant and parking in a fire zone.
He was issued an appearance ticket, uniform traffic tickets and parking violations and was released on his own recognizance. He was due back in court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
