The John C. Hart Memorial Library and the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center will serve as cooling centers Wednesday and Thursday in response to high temperatures.
Daytime highs are predicted to reach the mid-90s both days.
The Hart library, 1130 E. Main St., will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will be closed Friday and Saturday in observance of Independence Day.
The Capellini center, 1974 Commerce St., will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The town’s pools will be open Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, they will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Yorktown also has a bounty of private businesses that offer fun and social cooling experiences,” Supervisor Ed Lachterman said. “These businesses include coffee shops, the Jefferson Valley Mall and other major shopping destinations that will be open throughout the holiday weekend.”
