In an exciting back-and-forth game between two of the better programs in Section 1, Arlington overcame Yorktown 3-2.
After Arlington led 1-0 at halftime, Yorktown’s Colin Worden tied it in the middle of the second half, with his teammate Haniel Flores giving the Huskers a 2-1 lead with approximately 10 minutes remaining in the game.
The Admirals registered the equalizer on a penalty kick a few minutes later before scoring the game-winning goal on a shot from a difficult angle.
Gavin Cusack (1A), Antonio Spiniello (4 saves) and Joe Popovic (3 saves) also contributed to Yorktown’s effort.
Greeley 2, Yorktown 1
Friday, Sept. 26, Horace Greeley High School
Yorktown fell to Horace Greeley 2-1, paced by Eoghan Vallely (1G), Patrick Reardon (1A), Spiniello (3 saves) and Popovic (2 saves).
Lakeland 6, Poughkeepsie 1
Thursday, Sept. 25, Lakeland High School
Vinny Karaqi (2G, 2A), Owen Becker (1G), Luke Gomes (1G), Lucas Paljusevic (1G), Nico Paljusevic (1G), Matteo DiLaura (1A), Thomas Jorge (1A), Mason Eynon (1A, 4 saves) and Aiden Plouffe (1 save) produced for Lakeland in its 6-1 triumph against Poughkeepsie.
“We were able to get the win because we played together as a team,” Karaqi said. “Everyone gave full effort, we stay focused, and we took advantage of our chances. That’s what made the difference tonight.”
Lakeland 3, Mahopac 1
Saturday, Sept. 27, Mahopac High School
Lakeland won its second straight game with a 3-1 win against Mahopac, paced by Lucas Boyko (1G), Gomes (1G), Jorge (1G), Karaqi (1A), Joe Delionado (1A), Nick Ahmataj (1A) and Eynon (6 saves).
Yorktown 3, Ursuline 2 (OT)
Friday, Sept. 26, Yorktown High School
Yorktown defeated Ursuline 3-2 in overtime, on a goal from Megan Durante, off a deflection by Ava Ryan (1G, 1A).
“After working hard through the game and most of overtime, we knew a goal was necessary to break the tie,” Durante said. “It was a lot of back and forth during the 7v7, and although our team felt the exhaustion, we made sure to push through and didn’t give up. Our strong defense made amazing stops to move the ball up the field. Through their hard work, I was able to receive the ball and tipped it in the goal past the goalie. It was a true team effort, that showed how hard we’ve been working in practice.”
Alana D’Andraia (1G) and Lily Diaz (1A) produced as well offensively for the Huskers. Yorktown’s Zoe Ellison, who stepped into goal since starter Sam Conboy got sick 10 minutes before game time, made 4 saves in her first-ever game as a goalie.
Lakeland 2, Methacton (PA) 2 (OT)
Saturday, Sept. 20, The Proving Grounds, Conshohocken, PA
Aditi Parambath (2A), Gianna Santini (1G), Allie Waters (1G) and Jenna Yazzetti (16 saves) helped Lakeland tie Methacton, which hails from Pennsylvania, 2-2 after a scoreless overtime in the Max Field Hockey National High School Invitational.
Lakeland was going against a Methacton squad that has commits to Kent State, Ohio State University, Sacred Heart, Slippery Rock, Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg.
Smyrna (DE) 4, Lakeland 2
Sunday, Sept. 21, The Proving Grounds, Conshohocken, PA
Gabby Goldstein (1G, 1A), Winter Willbright (1G) and Yazzetti (8 saves) led Lakeland in its 4-2 loss to Smyrna from Delaware, in the Max Field Hockey National High School Invitational.
This was another challenging contest for Lakeland, as it played a Smyrna team that has commits to Northwestern, which is No. 1 in the nation, Bucknell and Neumann College.
“We had an amazing showing against top teams from both the Pennsylvania region and the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Lakeland coach Sharon Sarsen.
Rye 2, Lakeland 1

Goldstein (1G), Parambath (1A) and Yazzetti (7 saves) paced the Hornets in their 2-1 loss to Rye.
Lakeland 4, Panas 0
Thursday, Sept. 25, Walter Panas High School
Gianna Pace (2G), Caroline Leonard (1G, 1A), Emily Hahn (2A), Caroline Daly (1G), Margaret Keating (1A), Amelia Calisi (2 saves) and Brooke Cappo (2 saves) ignited Lakeland to a 4-0 win against sister school Walter Panas.
“My team’s communication and collaboration was really good today,” Pace said. “The team was connected on the field and we were able to combine passes. This and along with all our hard work and effort created the opportunities to score goals.”
Lakeland 2, Mahopac 1
Saturday, Sept. 27, Lakeland High School
Pace (2G), Mackenzie Latorre (1A), Leonard (1A) and Calisi (15 saves) propelled Lakeland to a 2-1 win against Mahopac.

Yorktown’s Autumn Richards (6 saves) recorded a shutout in a 0-0 tie against Mahopac.
Yorktown 2, Carmel 1
Saturday, Sept. 27, Carmel High School
Anna Walling’s goal broke a 1-1 tie in the second half, as she scored off Lea Bryant’s corner kick in the last seven minutes of the game, to give the Huskers a 2-1 victory against Carmel.
“My goal felt amazing because it was a competitive and physical game,” Walling said.
Bryant (1G, 1A), Izy Walling (1A) and Silvana Milizie (7 saves) also contributed to the win.
Yorktown 3, Somers 2

Yorktown defeated Somers 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 25-12, 21-25, 15-13), led by Natalia Lyon (26 digs, 9 kills, 1 ace, 2 assists), Kaitlyn Riordan (11 digs), Mia Riordan (10 digs, 2 kills, 1 ace, 19 assists), Nina Fasce (25 digs, 1 kill, 1 ace, 22 assists), Haley Allen (18 digs, 6 aces, 5 assists), Olivia Brackett (2 digs, 9 kills, 2 blocks), Emma McCoy (3 digs, 15 kills) and Kailey Alexander (1 dig, 13 kills, 2 blocks).
“The team kept the energy up and encouraged each other, allowing us to have the mindset of every ball is touchable, which enabled us to get the win,” Lyon said.
2025 NY/Conn. Volleyball Invitational

Yorktown finished first in its pool, but seeded sixth due to point differential with 15 teams, before losing in the first round to Mamaroneck 25-14 in the gold bracket of the 2025 New York/Connecticut Volleyball Invitational.
Yorktown 3, Croton-Harmon/Briarcliff/Hen Hud 2

Yorktown came back to defeat Croton-Harmon/Briarcliff/Hen Hud 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-9), ignited to the victory by Jack Brunner (5 aces, 4 digs, 40 assists), Justin Sek (5 aces, 5 digs, 25 kills), Franklin Ringel (8 kills, 3 blocks) and Xavier Guzman (5 kills, 7 digs).
“Our energy even after being down 2-0 really helped us,” Sek said. “We knew we could play better than we were and the first two sets just didn’t show the real us. Our serve receive really came alive in the 3rd set which opened up our options and then from there we just kept the flow moving. We knew Croton was a really good team going into the game so we had to mentally prepare ourselves pre-game and I think that really helped.”
Lakeland 3, Sleepy Hollow 0

Lakeland defeated Sleepy Hollow 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-8), led by Logan Tolve (3 kills, 4 aces), Kenny Bui (6 kills), Van Bui (10 assists), Erdin Dedushaj (5 kills) and Addison Cuevas (4 kills, 1 ace).
“We limited service errors and unforced errors, and made the best of opportunities when playing in system,” said Lakeland coach Justin McCarthy.
Panas 3, Lakeland 2

Lakeland lost to sister school Walter Panas 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 25-14, 18-25, 13-15), led by Kevin Dominic (16 kills), Kenny Bui (7 kills, 2 blocks), Delvin Anthony (10 assists), Van Bui (13 assists) and Cuevas (2 kills, 4 blocks).
