Family and friends are mourning the loss of 28-year-old Yorktown Heights resident Darly Bravo Coello, a mother of two who was killed following a three-vehicle collision on the Bear Mountain Parkway in Cortlandt over the weekend.

A GoFundMe campaign organized by Angela Salazar and Gabriela Bravo has been launched to support Coello’s two young children—a girl and boy.

The co-organizers described Coello as “a loving, cheerful and dedicated person to her two little children,” who they said “are left without their mother's embrace.”

The fundraiser said Coello’s family is now facing unexpected funeral expenses while grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss.

“We want to humbly ask for the help of family, friends and any kind-hearted person who wants to support with what they can, even if it is $1 dollar,” the GoFundMe said. “All help adds up and will be a great blessing to be able to cover funeral expenses and support your children.”

According to a preliminary investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Cortlandt and the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Coello was driving a Subaru westbound on the Bear Mountain Parkway on Saturday, May 16, when the vehicle crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a Honda driven by Charles D. Mooney, 54, of New Windsor.

The impact pushed the Honda onto the north shoulder of the parkway.

New York State Police said a Toyota driven by Manuel S. Pauta Zhingri, 44, of Peekskill, then struck the disabled Subaru while traveling eastbound. Investigators said Coello had exited the Subaru after the initial crash and was struck by the Toyota while outside the vehicle.

The drivers of the Honda and Toyota were taken to area hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening, state police said. Coello was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised nearly $8,000 toward its $10,000 goal.
