YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y.—The Town Board on Tuesday recognized Boy Scout Troop 173 for six decades of service, leadership, and community involvement, proclaiming Oct. 7 as Boy Scout Troop 173 Day.

Founded in 1965, Troop 173 has served as a cornerstone of the local community, helping generations of Scouts develop leadership skills, civic responsibility, and a spirit of service. Over the years, the troop has produced 117 Eagle Scouts — the highest rank in Scouting — with its newest, Louis Tuccitto, celebrated during the meeting

Town officials praised the troop’s longtime contributions, noting that its success reflects the dedication of Scoutmasters, volunteers and families who have supported the program over the past six decades.

The proclamation, issued during the Oct. 7 board meeting, expressed the community’s gratitude for Troop 173’s impact and commitment to shaping future generations of responsible citizens.
